Here you’ll get to experience lively streets, tasty local food, and busy markets and museums. More than anything else, it’s a window into life in a provincial Tanzanian city.

Arusha’s outpost of the respected Serena collection of hotels sits in an appealing location by a lake east of the town, amid grounds filled with trees. You can swim in the pool, order a cocktail in the bar, take one of the treatments in the spa, and eat well in the restaurant. The service is excellent and it’s the sort of place that you’ll remember with great fondness when you’re back home.

Explore one of Tanzania’s most rewarding national parks, a land of big baobab trees, big elephants and big cats. No wonder this ends up being the favorite park in Tanzania for many visitors. Sightings of wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys and zebras are also almost guaranteed. Lions are plentiful here – Tarangire is home to one of Tanzania’s healthiest lion populations. While you’ll have to work a little harder to see a cheetah or leopard, it will only enhance your excitement when you do. You can also look forward to classic safari scenery – savannah plains, river woodlands and rocky hills.

High in the Ngorongoro Highlands, you can expect beautiful views, dense forests and cool temperatures. Apart from Ngorongoro Crater, there are plenty of dramatic land formations, with steep-walled craters and high, rocky summits a feature. Watch for wildlife also in the forests, including elephants, buffaloes and, if you’re extremely lucky, leopards.
Early Morning Game Drive, Tarangire National Park Put on some warm clothes and enjoy an early morning game drive. This is the perfect time to experience the wildlife and the landscapes they inhabit. The light is soft and warm – perfect for photography – and most animals are out and about, and active. If you’re not an early riser, you’ll definitely want to make an exception here.
